Covid-19 vaccines remain extremely effective at preventing severe disease and death, according to new data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Confirming results seen in other countries, the data show age-standardized deaths were far lower for the fully vaccinated population than the unvaccinated, including during the U.S.’s summer surge. In August, the unvaccinated had an 11.3-times greater risk of dying from Covid-19. The Moderna Inc. inoculation saw the lowest rate of age-adjusted breakthrough cases and deaths.
