Covid Home Tests Recommended by WHO as Lab Testing Rates Plummet

The World Health Organization shifted its policy to recommend that home tests be used to track the spread of the virus as lab testing rates fall dramatically in some countries.

The new guidance suggests that self tests be offered in addition to professionally-administered testing services.

The move was based on evidence that users can reliably and accurately self-test, and that home testing may reduce inequalities in testing access, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a briefing in Geneva.
