The number of U.S. nursing home deaths from Covid-19 was revised downward Thursday from nearly 32,000 on May 31 to 29,457 through the first week of June, according to new data released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The CMS did not immediately provide an explanation for the change. Seema Verma, the agency’s administrator, said previously that the numbers will fluctuate due to reporting errors, data entry errors, and differing methods of reporting used by individual states.
