Cooper Companies Exits Suit Alleging Defective Embryo Culture

A federal judge allowed CooperSurgical’s parent company Cooper Companies Inc. to exit a lawsuit alleging the medical device business made embryo culture media that ruined a couple’s embryos as they were undergoing the in-vitro fertilization process.

The US District Court for the District of New Mexico Tuesday said it lacked jurisdiction over the parent company because a declaration from a Cooper Companies senior director said it wasn’t involved in marketing, selling, distributing, or recalling the culture.
