Contaminated Eye Wash Maker Can’t Be Sued in Maryland

Kareway Product Inc., the alleged source of a contaminated eye wash solution used to prepare eye tissue for corneal transplants, can’t be sued in Maryland.

California-based Kareway didn’t have enough contacts with the state to allow a court sitting in Maryland to exercise personal jurisdiction over the company, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland said Dec. 26, dismissing Kareway from the suit.

KeraLink International Inc. is a national network of eye banks headquartered in Baltimore. It recovers, preserves, and distributes eye tissue used in corneal transplants.
