Companies Risk Violating Health Privacy Rules, HHS Warns (1)

Companies exchanging personal health information need to be wary of violating federal privacy law, the Health and Human Services Department warned Thursday.

Medical providers, health insurance plans, and the tech giants whose software they use to collect health data are being alerted on how to properly collect and protect sensitive patient information by the HHS’ Office for Civil Rights.

The information flows from the office’s new Issues Bulletin on Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements for regulated entities using Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and other online tracking technologies to collect and analyze individuals’ health information.
