Colorado Insurance Collaborative Win Is Model for Other Areas

Employers and individuals in Summit County, Colo., teamed up to negotiate health insurance premiums directly with local providers, and their success has piqued the interest of officials in other areas of the state.

Peak Health Alliance, the state’s first health-care purchasing collaborative, struck deals with providers that will translate to premium reductions for individual health insurance plans ranging from 39% to 47%, Gov. Jared Polis (D) and other elected officials have said.
