CMS Upgrades Open Payments Website to Help Consumers

The federal government has revamped the website where consumers can look up information about drug and device manufacturer payments to doctors and teaching hospitals.

The website for the Open Payments program was redesigned to make it easier for consumers to use, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said Jan. 19. For example, users can now search for a doctor’s name from the website’s home page rather than having to click through several pages to reach the search function.

The updated site’s home page also contains summary data on the Open Payments program, data that was previously several clicks away. ...
