CMS Official Says Agency is Committed To Opening Medicare Claims Databases

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is “very committed to data and analytics” services for accountable care and health-care organizations working on population health management efforts, Niall Brennan, acting director of the CMS Office of Enterprise Management, said May 21.

Speaking at the eHealth Initiative’s National Forum on Data and Analytics, Brennan said delivery system reform, and moving provider revenues from fee-for-service to ACO and managed care payment models, will only be successful with the “routine and everyday use of analytics to guide and inform care.”
