BALTIMORE—State Medicaid agencies struggling with auditing responsibilities under the electronic health record incentive program should keep the audit process simple and comprehensive, a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services official advised attendees of the Fourth Annual Multi-State Medicaid HITECH Conference April 10.
According to Jason McNamara, Medicaid health information technology coordinator for the CMS Consortium for Medicaid and Children’s Health Operations, states are experiencing common struggles implementing the audit practices and policies needed for physicians and hospitals participating in the Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs.
