Cigna Must Face Hearing Aid Discrimination Lawsuit, Judge Rules

A proposed class action alleging Cigna Health and Life Insurance Co. discriminated against hearing-impaired people by denying coverage for hearing aids may proceed, a federal judge in Nevada said Tuesday.

Fifty-eight-year-old Irena Stanic Rasin sued Cigna in the US District Court for the District of Nevada in March 2025, accusing the insurer of disability and age discrimination under Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. Cigna’s policy excludes hearing aid coverage for anyone over the age of 21.
