Cigna Faces California Lab’s Suit Over Payments for Covid Tests

A California-based diagnostic laboratory sued Cigna Corp. for allegedly failing to fully reimburse the company for out-of-network Covid-19 tests, according to a complaint filed in California Superior Court, Los Angeles County.

DoctorNow Inc., a California-based Covid-19 test provider, accused the health-care giant of violating federal and state law by systematically denying and/or underpaying the company for out-of-network testing. The lawsuit, filed Friday, claims Cigna’s actions have deprived DoctorNow of nearly $6 million in statutory-owed payments and jeopardized “the health and safety of countless members of the public.”
