Centene Sues HHS Over Rating Cut Linked to Software Glitch

Centene, one of the nation’s largest health insurers, sued the Biden administration over a drop in a quality rating for its Medicare Advantage plans that it says was caused by a failure of government screening software.

The complaint was filed Tuesday by the managed care giant and its affiliates in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. It alleges software used by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to score whether calls sent to insurance hotlines successfully connected had malfunctioned, leaving the insurer docked for an “unsuccessful” call through no fault of its own.
