Centene Sees ‘Soft’ Medicare Enrollment, Strong ACA Growth

Centene Corp. saw strong sign-ups in its Affordable Care Act marketplace business during the open enrollment period, while membership in its Medicare plans was “soft,” Chief Executive Officer Sarah London said Monday.

The health insurer will review its financial guidance after open enrollment and may raise its revenue forecast, London said in a presentation at the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco.

Centene is setting its sights on expanding margins and improving quality in its Medicare plans and focusing on sales through its in-house proprietary channels, London said, and the softer membership growth is consistent with that strategy.
