The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices plans to vote Thursday on whether to recommend delaying the first dose of the hepatitis B vaccine from birth to at least one month for most babies born in the US.
According to meeting materials posted on the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, the panel will vote on changing the vaccine schedule to recommend hepatitis B testing for all pregnant women, and the first dose of the vaccine won’t be given until at least one month of age for babies of women who test negative.
