CDC Announces Blood Pressure Control Challenge

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced the launch of its Million Hearts Hypertension Control Challenge that will run Aug. 9 until Sept. 9.

CDC’s goal for Million Hearts is to identify best practices for controlling patients’ high blood pressure.

Contestants will “submit two point-in-time measures of the hypertension control rate for the practice’s or health system’s hypertensive population approximately 12 months apart” and will have to describe the health care systems they use to “support continued improvements in blood pressure control,” according to a notice that will appear in the Aug. 9 Federal Register.
