CBD Products Draw FTC Warnings for Unverified Health Claims

FTC sends warning letters to three companies that sell oils, tinctures, capsules, “gummies,” and creams containing cannabidiol, or CBD, a chemical compound derived from the cannabis plant. Agency didn’t identify the companies.

• FTC in a statement says it is warning the companies “that it is illegal to advertise that a product can prevent, treat, or cure human disease without competent and reliable scientific evidence to support such claims”
