A Catholic anti-abortion clinic can proceed with a claim intended to stop California Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) from bringing a civil enforcement action against it under the state’s consumer protection and false advertising laws.
The US District Court for the Southern District of California partially denied Bonta’s motion to dismiss Culture of Life Family Services Inc.'s free-speech suit June 13. Judge Gonzalo P. Curiel allowed the group to move forward with a claim accusing Bonta of unlawfully chilling its First Amendment-protected speech by targeting an unrelated anti-abortion group’s publishing of information about abortion “reversal.”
