Casey Means’ Surgeon General Nomination Teeters in the Senate

President Donald Trump’s surgeon general nominee might not have a clear path forward as four Republican senators expressed uncertainty about their support this week.

Among those who haven’t offered Casey Means their full-throated endorsement is Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), who oversees her movement out of the committee. Cassidy on Wednesday declined to comment on whether he supports her, after saying recently he would make an announcement soon.

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee chair wouldn’t clarify whether he was holding up her nomination, saying, “Things will come out at a point.”
