Carnival Fights Off Covid-19 Safety Securities Suit, for Now

Carnival Corp. is free for now of allegations it made misleading statements about cruise-ship safety ahead of the coronavirus pandemic, though investors can try to strengthen their complaint, a federal judge in Florida said Friday.

Investors accuse the cruise line of touting its commitment to health and safety ahead of coronavirus outbreaks on its ships early in the pandemic. None of the challenged Carnival statements were materially false or misleading, and the investors didn’t sufficiently allege intent or severe recklessness, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida said.
