California Woman Sues Hospital for Denying Emergency Abortion

A California hospital’s refusal to provide emergency abortion care to a patient in danger of bleeding out due to pregnancy complications violated state law and caused her emotional and physical harm, a new state court complaint said.

Anna Nusslock sued St. Joseph Health of Northern California LLC and related entities in the California Superior Court, Humboldt County, on Tuesday alleging violations of the state’s emergency care, civil rights, and unfair competition laws. She also seeks damages for negligent and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
