Northern California hospital system Sutter Health engaged in behavior that caused patients to pay more for the same procedure compared to patients in Southern California, state Attorney General Xavier Becerra (D) said March 30.
The attorney general sued the health-care giant for alleged antitrust law violations after a six-year investigation into health-care costs and market power. Becerra filed the lawsuit in state Superior Court March 29.
