California Health Programs Launch Pilot to Improve Primary Care

California’s Affordable Care Act exchange has joined the state’s public employee pension system and a health benefits purchaser coalition in an effort to improve primary care outcomes for over 3 million of the state’s residents.

Covered California, the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), and the Purchaser Business Group on Health announced Thursday they are launching a pilot program in January to introduce a set of performance measures to promote “patient-centered” primary care, according to a news release.
