An anti-abortion medical center can’t sue California in federal court to stop the state from prosecuting it for allegedly violating false advertising laws related to the center’s statements about a procedure known as “abortion reversal,” the state’s top attorney said Tuesday.
The federal lawsuit is a thinly disguised attack on state-court proceedings brought by California Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) against other anti-abortion groups that also tout the procedure, he said Tuesday. A legal doctrine precludes federal courts from entertaining actions that duplicate state-court proceedings, Bonta said.
