A Southern California nursing home will pay $450,000 to resolve a city lawsuit alleging it “dumped” homeless patients and failed to meet certain standards of quality care, the Los Angeles city attorney announced.
Avalon Villa Care Center, a South Los Angeles nursing home, has agreed to pay $450,000, including $75,000 in civil penalties and $325,000 to support the hiring and training of staff dedicated to properly discharging homeless patients. The new staff will ensure “optimal post-discharge care and placement” for each homeless resident, according to the city attorney.
