Braidwood Ends Obamacare Lawsuit After Supreme Court Ruling

Plaintiffs in a high-profile challenge to the Affordable Care Act’s preventive service mandate asked a Texas federal court to end the case Tuesday, accepting the US Supreme Court’s ruling upholding the law’s status quo.

The move effectively ends what was an existential threat to Obamacare, in a fight that jeopardized the availability of free preventive services ranging from blood pressure and HIV drugs to cancer and behavioral health screenings. The lawsuit also showcased ongoing objections from employers that chafe at covering services that don’t align with their religious beliefs.
