A leading California health insurer is being sued by former customers for allegedly secretly gathering private health information that was made available to third parties.
Two former Blue Shield of California customers filed a proposed class action Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
The suit alleges the insurer, formally known as California Physicians’ Service, applied tracking software on its website that collected the private health information of beneficiaries unlawfully and without their consent. The company would then share this data with third parties like
