Blue Cross Texas Sued by Emergency Centers Over Payments (1)

A group of free-standing emergency care centers are taking Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas to court over alleged failures to reimburse the health-care providers at adequate rates for emergency services to beneficiaries.

Blue Cross of Texas, the largest health insurance provider in the state, has “repeatedly ignored its obligations” to “timely provide coverage” and pay emergency centers “at appropriate, usual and customary rates” for patients covered by Blue Cross, Signature Care Emergency Center locations wrote in their complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
