President Donald Trump‘s order for the US to withdraw from the World Health Organization hampers US health officials’ ability to address health crises at home and abroad, health policy experts say.

Under the Jan. 20 executive order, the US will pause transferring resources and money to the WHO and recall government personnel working with the specialized health agency of the United Nations, which is based in Geneva. The US is the WHO’s top contributor, providing nearly $1.3 billion from 2022 through 2023.
