Bill Touting Health Cost Transparency Wins House Panel’s Backing

A bill designed to give consumers more information on their health-care expenditures was approved by the House Ways and Means Committee, paving the way for a full House vote on the measure that’s likely to reflect the same party-line divisions that characterized Wednesday’s vote.

The Health Care Price Transparency Act of 2023, H.R. 4822, was approved with committee Republicans voting in the majority, while objecting Democrats made up the minority tally.

The legislation includes a number of provisions designed to improve health-care access, quality, and affordability, while providing consumers with a better understanding of their health-care costs.
