The Biden administration plans to make changes to a Trump-era rule that allowed health-care workers to deny care based on their religious and moral beliefs under a proposal (RIN 0945-AA18) announced Thursday.
The Trump-era rule (RIN 0945-AA10) allowed the Department of Health and Human Services to strip federal health funding from health-care facilities if they take adverse actions against workers who cite a religious or moral objection to providing care.
The HHS said in a statement that its newly proposed rule would offer up safeguards to protect against religious discrimination.
