Biden Directive Fortifies Immigrant Minors’ Access to Abortion

US caretakers of unaccompanied immigrant minors must help them obtain abortions if requested, under fresh guidance from the Biden administration that is likely to spark Republican backlash.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement, a division of the Health and Human Services Department that cares for unaccompanied children, announced the policy Thursday, saying staff and caretakers must “make all reasonable efforts” to facilitate access, including transporting them to a state where abortion is legal.
