Biden, Congress Pressed for $2,000 for Each Nursing Home Staffer

Nonprofit aging services providers want President Joe Biden and Congress to give 4.6 million nursing home workers one-time payments of $2,000 apiece—and a $5 per hour pay hike—in order to shore up nationwide staffing shortages at the facilities.

The proposal was one of six recommendations sent recently to the president by Katie Smith Sloan, president and CEO of LeadingAge, a trade group that represents more than 5,000 nonprofit aging services providers, including nursing homes.
