BGOV OnPoint: Water Resources Bill Heads to House-Senate Talks

Lawmakers are negotiating a compromise for the 2024 water resources bill after both chambers passed their respective measures this summer.

The biennial Water Resources Development Act authorizes the Army Corps of Engineers’ major construction initiatives and generally receives bipartisan support due to the economic implications the projects have across the country.

The Senate bill (S. 4367), which the chamber passed by unanimous consent on Aug. 1, would authorize 13 projects with an estimated $9.95 billion in combined federal and nonfederal costs.
