Enhancements to Affordable Care Act subsidies enacted during the Covid-19 pandemic would be extended for three years, through Dec. 31, 2028, under S. 3385.

The enhanced tax credits, which are set to lapse Dec. 31, played a central role in the record 43-day government shutdown this fall. Democrats insisted on extending the credits, saying a lapse would cause insurance premiums to surge for tens of millions of people across the country.
