BGOV Bill Analysis: H.R. 6945, Pregnancy Center Federal Funding

Organizations that advise women against getting an abortion would be authorized to receive federal funding under H.R. 6945.

The bill would amend the statute governing the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families block grant program to stipulate that no provision could be construed to prohibit states from providing grants to pregnancy centers that “support protecting the life of the mother and the unborn child” and offer pregnancy education, testing, diapers, and baby clothes.
