Electric grid operators could submit proposals to prioritize connecting new power generation projects that use “dispatchable” energy sources to the grid, ahead of intermittent sources such as wind and solar, under H.R. 1047.

The measure would define dispatchable projects as those that are capable of “providing known and forecastable electric supply” to ensure reliable supply of electricity to the grid across times with varying demand.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission would have to approve or deny transmission providers’ proposals within 60 days. FERC would have to finalize rules within 180 days of enactment to implement the process and ensure ...
