Arkansas Asks SCOTUS to Review Down Syndrome Abortion Law

A fight over the validity of state laws restricting abortion based on a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome has arrived at the U.S. Supreme Court, as Arkansas has asked the top court to review a decision striking its provision.

Arkansas’ petition for review was filed at about the same time that another federal appeals court decided that an Ohio law criminalizing abortions when providers know women are seeking them because of a Down syndrome diagnosis passed constitutional muster.
