Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich (R) said a temporary stay on a nearly 160-year-old abortion law allows consistency in the state’s abortion policy as multiple lawsuits wind their way through the courts.
The older law, on hold pending appeal, bans almost all abortions. A Tuesday agreement between attorneys for abortion rights advocates and Brnovich ensures that hold won’t be challenged.
A more recent law banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy remains in effect for now.
