Anthem Owes Overtime Pay to Nurses Who Review Claims, Suit Says

Anthem is facing accusations that it violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York law by denying overtime pay to dozens of nurses who allegedly log “excessive hours” reviewing insurance requests, in a new lawsuit in federal court in Manhattan.

The lawsuit was brought by Leslie Lazaar, a “utilization review” nurse who was ousted from a similar overtime suit proceeding against Anthem Cos. Inc. after the Sixth Circuit limited FLSA collective membership to in-state workers.
