Publicly traded analytics company Inovalon entered into a definitive agreement to acquire health policy consulting firm Avalere Health in a $140 million deal, both companies announced Aug. 24.
The purchase price is $140 million, which is composed of $135 million of cash and $5 million of restricted stock, the companies said. Closing is expected to occur on or about Sept. 1. Avalere reported $47.1 million of revenue in the 2014 calendar year. Avalere will operate as a subsidiary of Inovalon, the companies said.
