AmerisourceBergen Unit to Pay $260M in Drug Misbranding Case

A subsidiary of drug wholesaler AmerisourceBergen Corp. agreed Sept. 27 to pay $260 million in pleading guilty to a criminal misdemeanor charge of illegally distributing misbranded drugs (United States v. AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group LLC, E.D.N.Y., No. 1:17-cr-00507, guilty plea 9/27/17).

AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group LLC will pay a $208 million fine and forfeit $52 million to resolve its criminal liability for distributing oncology supportive-care drugs from a facility that wasn’t registered with the Food and Drug Administration.
