Amerisource Opioid Deal Holdout Grilled by Georgia Justices

Georgia Supreme Court justices openly disagreed with the legal challenge of a single county health agency that is holding up the state’s portion of a $26 billion settlement with AmerisourceBergen Corp. and other opioid distributors.

The high court’s panel on Tuesday pressed an attorney for the Hospital Authority of Wayne County on why a state subdivision should be able to pursue its own case against AmerisourceBergen when a 2022 state statute prohibits local governments from bringing their own claims on these opioid suits.
