Amazon Doubles Nuclear Deal With Talen and Mulls Small Reactors

Amazon.com Inc. doubled its deal to buy nuclear energy from Talen Energy Corp. for data centers, a pact the power company estimates will yield about $18 billion in total revenue.

Amazon Web Services has agreed to purchase 1,920 megawatts from Talen’s Susquehanna nuclear plant in Pennsylvania through 2042, the generator said Wednesday in a statement. The companies are also exploring the potential to build small modular reactors in the state, along with upgrading existing reactors to increase output.
