Almost 1 Million Flavored Vaping Products to See Market Removal (1)

More than 946,000 flavored e-cigarette products, including flavors like Apple Crumble and Dr. Cola, will need to be removed from the market after the Food and Drug Administration denied premarket authorization, the agency announced Thursday.

Those flavored products “lacked sufficient evidence that they have a benefit to adult smokers sufficient to overcome the public health threat posed by the well-documented, alarming levels of youth use of such products,” the agency said. If those products aren’t removed, the agency “intends to follow its usual enforcement practices in these circumstances”—-a warning letter followed by monetary penalties, the FDA said.
