Alabama reproductive rights groups can proceed with a lawsuit to stop state attorney general Steve Marshall from prosecuting them for helping people get abortions in states where it’s legal, a federal trial court said.
The groups sufficiently alleged that any prosecution would violate their free speech rights and their clients’ right to travel, the US District Court for the Middle District of Alabama said Monday. The case wasn’t “an ‘especially difficult call,’” Judge Myron H. Thompson said.
