A trade association representing air ambulance providers sued the government Tuesday in federal court to halt regulations implementing a new law designed to do away with medical bills that come as a surprise to consumers.
Interim final rules adopted by multiple federal agencies, including the Health and Human Services, Treasury, and Labor departments, unfairly favor health insurers and policy issuers in administrative proceedings intended to resolve disputes with providers over who should pay unexpected medical costs, the Association of Air Medical Services says in a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
