AI Tool Will Examine Health Rules for Errors, Inconsistencies

Artificial intelligence tools will help the government cull its regulations under an HHS final rule announced Tuesday.

As part of a top-to-bottom review of health regulations, the Department of Health and Human Services used a first-of-its-kind automated process to identify locations in the Code of Federal Regulations that warrant corrections, such as those with incorrect citations or outdated regulations that have gone unnoticed.

The rule provides for the correction of nearly 100 citations, the removal of erroneous language, and correction of misspellings and typographical errors, the HHS said.
