Agency Will Conduct More EHR Investigations in 2013, OIG Chief Counsel Greg Demske Tells BNA

Moving deeper into 2013, the OIG will focus on potential billing fraud associated with the use of electronic health records (EHR), Greg Demske, chief counsel to the OIG, told BNA.

“I would say EHRs are going to be a bigger issue because EHRs are becoming more and more important and prevalent in the industry, and anytime there’s a change in the health care industry, a change in the Medicare or Medicaid programs, we have to look at what the vulnerabilities and risks are,” Demske said.
