Aetna Life Insurance Co. has settled a class action alleging that its fertility treatment coverage discriminated against LGBTQ+ plan members, according to papers filed in a federal court Friday.
Attorneys for the class asked the US District Court for the Southern District of New York to approve an April 18 preliminary settlement in which the insurer said it would change the definition of “fertility” in its health plans to make coverage more readily affordable for LGBTQ+ couples.
